Dentsu is giving WPP, Omnicom and others a real run for their money in the digital acquisition stakes as global marketing consultancy R3’s summary of mergers and acquisitions (below) in August demonstrates.
Dentsu topped the deal table in terms of numbers as well as the month’s biggest, 68 per cent of US CRM agency Merkle for an estimated $979m.
Other highlights include:
* Simei (a Chinese media company that went public last year) buying four entertainment and digital companies for a total of $22.5m.
* UK consultancy Cognizant buying 170-strong Idea Couture (described as a creative consulting firm) in San Francisco.
* Zeta buying Axciom’s enterprise section.
* US investment fund Stagwell Group buying 800-strong global performance marketing firm PMX Agency, with 800 employees.
