Samsung Services, a suite of digital tools that includes a variety of Samsung efficiency apps such as Payment, Bixby and Health, has brought on Beyond as its new global creative agency of record, according to people with knowledge of the matter.
Beyond, which coins itself as a “design and technology ideas company,” won the business following a competitive review run by R3, Ad Age has learned. Representatives from Samsung, Beyond and R3 did not respond to inquiry for comment.
According to people with knowledge of the matter, the scope of work will include the U.S. and international markets.
The services business for Samsung helps users stay connected on their mobile and other devices by allowing them to turn their phones into a wallet with Samsung Pay or providing them with a virtual assistant via Bixby. Some other Samsung Services include Samsung Health to help consumers stay fit, Samsung Pass to let people use fingerprints or irises to sign into services, Smart Home Cloud API to monitor Samsung smart phone devices and more.
Samsung Services previously has worked with a number of agencies on projects, including R/GA and local shops around the world.
Last year, Samsung launched its Rewards program to benefit consumers using its services. Samsung Rewards has been a success in its first year, with more than 54 percent of people finding the program through Bixby and Samsung Health, according to a company statement. Samsung Rewards has also increased the use of Samsung Pay by 48 percent and the use of Samsung Health’s “Ask An Expert” service by 46 percent.
